Exercise

Dogs must be exercised, not brimming with excess energy, in order to be calm, happy, and well behaved. Dogs require regular, structured, intentional migration with a pack leader in control. All dogs need 80 minutes of exercise a day, 6-7 days a week. Ideally, they would go out for 40 minutes before breakfast, and 40 minutes in the evening, with a brief stint mid day, or an hour in the morning and 20 minutes in the evening. But this is not always possible with our busy lives and all the work we need to do in order to pay for pet food. So Sundance, James, and Minnehaha are here to take care of those times. When hired to exercise your dog, James chooses where to walk or run with the dogs based on weather conditions, safety, and the needs of the dogs. James always uses poopy bags responsibly and acts environmentally.

Taking pictures and videos makes everything more fun. As a part of any services offered, James makes an effort to record the mid-workout panting, scenery, and tender moments of puppy fun and joy. Not only do dogs love to ham it up flirting with the camera, but it helps owners maintain their connection when they know what their kids have been up to, who they hang out with, and see where they've been. James puts a few puppy pictures up on social media at the end of the day so owners and friends can share in the joy and fulfillment of seeing a tired, happy dog.

Logistics

James can exercise your dogs 2-5 times per week. Two to four times per week is only sufficient if the dog is being exercised by the owner on ALL the other days. We do not do once-per-week because (1) dogs need consistency, (2) customers have been dissatisfied with results, and (3) it complicates scheduling, since James exercises multiple clients at a time.

We can begin exercising your dog as soon we have completed a Companionship Training session together. After that, all scheduling is done monthly. While we understand that spontaneous changes are sometimes unavoidable, we ask that you schedule with us monthly so that we can plan accordingly and provide consistent service to all clients. Please give us notice a week ahead or more regarding any scheduling changes.

James exercises dogs in all weather and on holidays. If you cancel due to weather, you will still be charged for that day, because your dog still needs exercise on that day. If your dog will be out of town for a holiday, please communicate that with us.

As of August 2019, the exercise schedule is as follows:

Monday through Friday, dogs are dropped off at 8:25 a.m. Dogs will be walked or run from 8:30-9:30. Owners pick dogs up at 9:30 or after the dogs who live on the route are redistributed to their homes, as close to 9:30 as possible.

Payment may be made at the beginning of the week. At the end of each month, if requested, James can email a receipt delineating services and payments, or a bill so that you may have a check or cash on the first session of the month.
